Who does metal roofing in Branson?

How much does a metal roof cost compared to shingles?
Generally somewhere around two to three times an asphalt roof, depending on the panel, the gauge, the pitch, and how complicated your roof is. Standing seam sits at the top of that range. The honest way to think about it is cost per year of ownership, not sticker price, which is why we ask how long you're staying.
Is a metal roof loud when it rains?
No, and this is the myth we hear most. A metal roof on a house sits on solid decking with underlayment under it, which kills the drumming. What people remember is a barn or a carport where the panels are screwed straight to open purlins with nothing underneath. That's a completely different setup.
Does metal attract lightning?
It does not. Metal doesn't pull lightning toward your house any more than shingles do. If lightning does strike, metal is noncombustible and spreads the energy out, which is the opposite of a hazard. This one's been going around for fifty years and it's still not true.
Will hail dent my metal roof?
It can, depending on hail size, panel gauge, and profile. The thing worth knowing is that dents on a metal roof are almost always cosmetic and the roof keeps doing its job, which is not what happens to an aging shingle roof in the same storm. Heavier gauge and standing seam hold up best. If dents would bother you, say so and we'll steer the panel choice.
Can you install metal over my existing shingles?
Sometimes it's allowed, and we usually don't recommend it. Going over shingles means nobody looks at the decking underneath, so any soft spots or old leak damage stay hidden under a roof that's supposed to last fifty years. We'd rather tear off, see what we're working with, and start clean.
Exposed fastener or standing seam? What's the difference?
Exposed fastener panels are screwed through the face of the metal, which is why they cost less. Those screws and their rubber washers need attention somewhere around the fifteen year mark. Standing seam hides the fasteners under the seams, so there's nothing to back out and nothing to reseal. If you're staying put long term, standing seam is usually the better buy.
Does a metal roof need any maintenance?
Less than shingles, not zero. Exposed fastener roofs need the screws checked and sealant looked at every so often. Standing seam mostly needs debris kept out of the valleys and an occasional wash. Some insurance carriers offer a discount for metal, so it's worth a call to your agent either way.
