Somebody spends real money on new gutters, and six weeks later it pours and water comes right over the corner above the front step. Same as before. Or the run along the back still sags a little, or there's a rut washing into the mulch under the same downspout that always washed it out. They call the installer and get told the gutters are fine, must be debris. Sometimes it is debris. A lot of the time it's that the new gutters got built as a copy of the old ones, same size, same downspouts in the same places, on a roof that was already sending more water than they could carry.

I'm Tyler Arnold. Before we price anything, we figure out how much roof is feeding each run, because that's what decides everything else. A long slope with a valley dumping into one corner is a completely different situation than a short run over the garage, even though both look like thirty feet of gutter from the driveway. That math tells us whether you want 5 inch or 6 inch, how many downspouts you need, and where they belong. Then we set the slope, hang it on hidden hangers screwed into solid wood, and run water through the whole thing before we call it done.
Two honest things. First, if the fascia board behind your gutter is soft, we fix that before anything gets hung, because new gutter screwed to rotten wood will pull loose and you'll have paid twice. We handle fascia work ourselves, so it's one crew and one bill instead of a referral and a wait. Second, sometimes you don't need new gutters at all. How much does gutter installation cost?
It's priced by the linear foot, plus downspouts, and it moves with the size you pick, the metal thickness, how many stories, and how tricky the access is. Copper is its own category and costs considerably more. We measure the whole house and put it in writing, with the monthly payment printed next to the total if you want it.
Should I get 5 inch or 6 inch gutter?
Depends on how much roof feeds it. Bigger roofs, steeper pitches, and valleys funneling water into one spot all point to 6 inch. Here's the thing worth knowing: a lot of overflow complaints aren't clogs at all, they're 5 inch gutter on a roof that needed 6. The upgrade costs a bit more per foot and it's usually the cheapest fix available.
What are seamless gutters and do I need them?
They're cut on site into one continuous piece per run, so there's no joint in the middle to eventually leak. Old sectional gutter has a seam every ten feet, and seams are where failures start. Nearly all of our Branson gutter installation work is seamless because it simply lasts longer for very little difference in price.
How many downspouts do I need?
More than most houses have. The right number depends on roof area feeding each run and the length of the run, not on how many were there before. Adding one downspout to a long run is often the difference between water going where it should and water going over the front edge every time it rains hard.
Do I need new gutters, or can you fix mine?
Plenty of times we can fix them. Loose hangers, a run that's sloped wrong, a separated corner, or a missing downspout are all repairs. What points to replacement is gutter that's undersized for the roof, metal that's cracked or badly bent, or a system where the fascia behind it has gone bad. We'll look and tell you which one you've got.
Aluminum, steel, or copper?
Aluminum is what most homes here get. It doesn't rust, comes in every color, and handles our weather fine. Heavier gauge aluminum resists dents better if you're in hail country. Steel is stronger and heavier and costs more. Copper is for people who want the look, ages to that green-brown patina, and costs a good deal more. Any of the three is a defensible choice.
What if my fascia board is rotten behind the old gutter?
We fix it before we hang anything. Screwing new gutter into soft wood means it works loose eventually and you've wasted the install. We do soffit and fascia work in house, so it happens the same week with the same crew instead of turning into a separate project and a second wait.
Where does the water go after the downspout?
That's the question most bids skip. Options run from simple extensions that carry water a few more feet, to buried drain lines that discharge well downhill of the house, to splash blocks where the grade already works. On sloped lots around here it genuinely matters, and we'll walk the yard with you and say what we'd do.
