Your Shell Knob general contractor
Big Chief Exteriors is a Shell Knob general contractor for exterior work. We are a family-owned company at 117 Calvin Dr, Branson, MO 65616, and we serve homeowners in Shell Knob and across Barry County.
Exterior work means the parts of your home that face the weather: the roof, gutters, siding, windows and doors, deck and paint. As your general contractor, we plan the work, coordinate the crews and materials, and manage the schedule, so you deal with one project manager instead of five different trades.
We start with a Free Estimate, write a detailed fixed price for your full scope of work, offer several payment options, and photograph every layer we cover up. Read about our family and our story, or see how our pricing works.
The problem
Homes in Shell Knob have seen decades of Ozarks weather, and a roof patched after the last storm or siding from the lowest bidder tends to come back as a second bill. You may have been burned before by a contractor who stopped answering the phone once the check cleared.
That is why we inspect before we sell, show you photos of what we find, and give you a detailed fixed price for your whole project, with several payment options.
Exterior services in Shell Knob
Prices below are installed averages. Your fixed price comes after a free estimate.
Full tear-off, deck inspection, underlayment, ice-and-water membrane at the eaves, flashing and ventilation, then shingle, metal or designer roofing. Shingle roofing averages $4 to $6 per square foot, and the full roofing range runs $4 to $20 depending on material.
Vinyl, LP SmartSide or James Hardie, installed over a sealed weather barrier with proper flashing and trim. Siding averages $6 to $15 per square foot, and old siding is always removed, never covered over.
NT Windows vinyl windows as our most affordable option and Marvin windows as the premium upgrade, plus Marvin sliding doors and steel or fiberglass entry doors. Windows run $8 to $20 per united inch for NT Windows and $12 to $25 for Marvin.
Composite decks with Fiberon decking and steel railing, designed with a 3D rendering before we build. Composite decks average $55 to $75 per square foot, and a typical deck takes about one week.
Six-inch seamless gutters with oversized downspouts sized for Ozarks downpours, at $10 to $12 per linear foot. Good gutters protect your siding, soffit, landscaping and foundation from roof runoff.
Sherwin-Williams paint and stain with the prep that makes a finish last: washing, scraping, repairs, caulking and priming. Painting and staining average $5 to $9 per square foot.

How a project works
A Big Chief team member comes to your Shell Knob home, walks the exterior and takes photos. You get a report that grades your roof, gutters, siding, windows and deck as Good, Watch or Fix, with no obligation.
For your full scope of work, from a single system to a large custom project, you get a detailed fixed price in writing and several payment options.

When the work is done, you get a record of every product, color code and warranty, plus photos of each hidden layer, backed by our Lifetime Craftsmanship Warranty.
Why local matters
Shell Knob is in Barry County, Missouri, where homes live with the full range of Ozarks weather. The Ozarks deliver hail, strong spring storms, humid summers and winter ice, sometimes in the same year. Hillside homes catch wind, and mature trees drop leaves into gutters.
Local knowledge shows up in the details: Class 4 impact-rated shingles for hail, ice-and-water membrane at eaves, and 6-inch gutters for heavy rain.
Our Ozarks Conditions guides explain each one in plain language, and our service area page lists every town we serve.
Backed for life

“These guys were amazing! I own several homes and rarely do I see service of this caliber. The bid was very honest and reasonable. We decided to move forward and within a few days there were at our house working from dawn until dusk. The entire project was complete within about five days. There were always at least five men working. The job site was always clean and the men were always very respectful and kind. It’s companies and men like this that made America great. You should look no further than Big Chief Roofing.”

Hiring a Shell Knob general contractor
A general contractor plans the work, schedules the crews, orders the materials and manages the project from start to finish, so you deal with one team instead of several trades.
Big Chief Exteriors does that for the outside of your home: roofing, gutters, siding, windows and doors, decks and exterior painting. One project manager coordinates your crew, your materials and your schedule, and one warranty covers the work.
That matters most where trades meet, like where the roof edge meets the siding and where a window meets the wall. When one team does the whole exterior, the order of work and the flashing details belong to one company, not to several that point at each other.
Choose a contractor who puts the scope, price and warranty in writing, shows you photos of what is under your old roof or siding, and tells you plainly who will be doing the work.
Ask for a written scope that names the products and colors, ask what the warranty covers and for how long, and ask whether it transfers if you sell the house.
Here is how Big Chief answers. We use our own trained crews led by one project manager, send daily photo updates, and photograph every hidden layer before we cover it. Our Lifetime Craftsmanship Warranty covers our workmanship for as long as you own your home. You can also book a Free Estimate and judge us in person before you spend anything.
Our installed averages are $4 to $20 per square foot for roofing, $6 to $15 per square foot for siding, $8 to $20 per united inch for NT Windows, $10 to $12 per linear foot for gutters and $55 to $75 per square foot for composite decks.
Painting and staining average $5 to $9 per square foot. Material moves the number most: in roofing, shingles are the lowest-priced, then metal, then Brava, and in siding, vinyl is the lowest-priced, then LP SmartSide, then James Hardie.
These are averages, so your fixed price comes after a free estimate, and every option comes with a monthly price.
