Why do my gutters overflow?
Gutters overflow when they are clogged with leaves, too small for the roof above them, pitched wrong, or short on downspouts. In the Ozarks, undersized gutters and leaf-clogged runs are the most common causes.
A roof sheds a lot of water in a hard Ozarks downpour, and a standard gutter with a small downspout cannot move it fast enough. Valleys that dump water into one spot, sagging runs and loose hangers make it worse. When water spills over the edge, it lands on your soffit and fascia, siding and the ground along your foundation.
At your free estimate we look at the size, pitch and downspouts of your current gutters and tell you which problem you have. Sometimes a cleaning or a repair is enough. If the gutters are simply too small, gutter replacement with 6-inch seamless gutters and oversized downspouts fixes the cause.
Are 6-inch gutters worth it?
Yes, for most Ozarks homes. 6-inch gutters carry more water than the standard 5-inch size, and paired with oversized 3x4 downspouts they are much harder to overwhelm in a heavy downpour.
They matter most on large or steep roofs, roofs with valleys, and homes under tall hardwoods where leaves and heavy rain arrive together. Every Big Chief gutter system uses 6-inch seamless gutters with 3x4 downspouts, which have twice the opening of standard downspouts, so you do not have to upgrade to get them.
On a small, simple roof with little tree cover, a smaller gutter may keep up. At your Free Estimate we tell you honestly what your roof needs.
Do gutter guards really work?
Good ones do. Quality gutter guards, also called leaf guards or gutter covers, keep leaves and debris out of the gutter so water keeps flowing, and they cut down on climbing a ladder to clean.
No guard is perfect. Very fine debris can still collect on top of any gutter cover, and the cheap plastic or foam kinds can clog or sag. That is why we install E-Z-Leaf Eliminator stainless steel guards on our 6-inch seamless gutters.
Guards cannot fix gutters that are too small or pitched wrong, so we get the gutter right first and add the guards on top.
How much do seamless gutters cost?
K-style seamless gutters in Branson cost $10 to $12 per linear foot installed.
Your total depends on how many linear feet of roofline you have, how many corners and downspouts the house needs, and whether you choose gutter guards. Hidden hangers screw into the fascia, so rotted fascia is repaired or wrapped first. Underground downspout drainage, valley diverters and rain chains are add-ons.
