Serving Branson and the Ozarks

Big Chief Exteriors is a Branson deck builder and family-owned deck company serving Table Rock Lake and the Ozarks. Our deck builders handle custom decks, deck installation and deck replacement with the Sundown system: Fiberon composite decking with steel deck railing, so you spend weekends enjoying a low-maintenance deck instead of staining one. We design each new deck with a 3D rendering before we build, so you can see the layout, railing and stairs in place. Whether you want a lake house deck that keeps the view, a rental deck that needs little upkeep, or a replacement for rotted boards, you get a detailed fixed price for your full scope of work from one deck contractor.

Straight answers

Deck questions from Branson and Table Rock Lake homeowners.

How much does a composite deck cost?

A composite deck in Branson averages $55 to $75 per square foot installed, depending on the features and colors you choose.

For example, a 300-square-foot deck works out to roughly $16,500 to $22,500 at those averages. Size, height, shape, stairs, railing and add-ons like lighting, a pergola, built-in benches or a ZipUp under-deck ceiling all move the price within that range.

These are averages, so your fixed price comes after a design session with a 3D rendering, with several payment options. Permits and inspections are included.

Composite or wood in the Ozarks?

For most Ozarks homes, composite decking is the better choice. It costs more up front than wood, but it never needs staining or sealing, and it does not rot, splinter or cup the way wood does.

Ozarks decks sit through hot sun, humid summers, heavy rain and freeze-thaw winters. Wood decks need to be cleaned and stained every few years to survive that, and boards that go unsealed rot. A Fiberon composite deck is capped to resist moisture and stains, so your weekends go to the deck instead of upkeep.

That is why we build low-maintenance decks for lake houses and nightly rentals especially. Wood still makes sense if a lower upfront cost matters more to you than upkeep, and at your design session we are honest about the tradeoff.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in Taney County?

Most new decks and deck replacements need a building permit, and the exact rules depend on whether your home is inside a city or in unincorporated Taney County. Big Chief handles the permit and the inspections for you.

Permits and inspections are included in every Sundown deck. We confirm what your address requires with the right local office, submit the paperwork, and schedule the inspections as the deck is built, so you do not have to guess which rules apply.

Local permit rules differ by town, so each town page covers how permits work where you live.

How long does a composite deck last?

A well-built composite deck lasts for decades, and Fiberon backs our decking with long warranties: up to 30 years on Good Life, and lifetime performance with 50-year stain-and-fade warranties on Concordia.

How long a deck lasts depends as much on the build as the boards. We set concrete footings and treated framing, put butyl tape on every joist and beam to protect the framing, and use hidden fasteners and powder-coated steel railing.

Our Lifetime Craftsmanship Warranty covers our workmanship for as long as you own your home.
