How much does Hardie siding cost?
James Hardie siding in Branson averages $9 to $15 per square foot installed. Fiber cement is the highest-priced of our three siding materials, above vinyl and LP SmartSide.
For example, 1,500 square feet of wall works out to roughly $13,500 to $22,500 at that range. The size and shape of your walls, the number of gables and corners, whether you choose primed siding painted on site or factory-finished ColorPlus, and any hidden repair to the sheathing all move the price. House wrap, flashing at every window and door, and new soffit, fascia and trim are part of the job, not extras.
These are averages. After your Free Estimate we write a detailed fixed price for your full scope of work, with several payment options: split into monthly payments, or do the project now and pay later.
Hardie or vinyl siding?
Choose vinyl siding if you want the least upkeep and the lower price. Choose James Hardie fiber cement if you want a heavier, more traditional look and a finish you can paint in almost any color.
Vinyl averages $6 to $8 and never needs painting. Our insulated ProVia CedarMax vinyl, at $8 to $12, adds foam behind the panel for a quieter, tighter wall. Hardie board is dense fiber cement that holds up to Ozarks hail and big temperature swings, and it gives a crisp look that vinyl does not.
At your Free Estimate we show you samples of both and walk through the price and payment options for each.
Hardie or LP SmartSide?
Both are good lap siding with a traditional look. James Hardie is fiber cement, and LP SmartSide is engineered wood. LP SmartSide sits lower on price, and Hardie is the higher-priced of the two.
Each comes in a painted-on-site and a factory-finished version from us. Primed lap siding is painted on site in any color. James Hardie Statement Collection with ColorPlus is factory-finished with a 15-year finish warranty, and LP SmartSide ExpertFinish carries a 50-year substrate warranty and a 15-year finish warranty.
If you cannot decide, we put samples of both on your wall at the Free Estimate and quote them side by side.
How long does Hardie siding last?
James Hardie lap siding is backed by a 30-year, non-prorated limited substrate warranty, and well-installed fiber cement is built to last for decades. The finish usually wears out before the board does.
A painted finish needs repainting over the years, and caulk at the trim needs checking. That is why we also install factory-finished ColorPlus, which carries a 15-year limited finish warranty. Installation matters as much as the board, so we put the siding over taped house wrap and flash every window and door.
Our Lifetime Craftsmanship Warranty covers our workmanship for as long as you own your home.
What's the difference between ColorPlus and painting on site?
ColorPlus is a factory-applied finish, and painting on site is done on your house after the siding is up. We install James Hardie primed and painted on site in any color, or with ColorPlus.
ColorPlus is applied in a controlled setting and carries a 15-year limited finish warranty. It comes in the Statement Collection's color range. Painting on site lets you choose almost any color, and the finish is a painted one that we do not warrant for 15 years.
We go over colors and the difference in cost with you at your Free Estimate.
Does Hardie siding need to be repainted?
Painted Hardie siding needs repainting about every 15 years on average, and caulk at the trim needs checking. ColorPlus siding has a factory finish with a 15-year limited finish warranty.
Fiber cement is made to hold paint, so a repaint keeps it looking new rather than fixing a problem. Your walls may need it sooner or later depending on the sun and weather they take, and a repaint is easier when the siding was primed and painted well to begin with.
When it is time, our exterior painting service handles Hardie and other siding.
