How much does new deck railing cost?
New deck railing in Branson averages $50 to $70 per linear foot installed, depending on the style and features you choose.
For example, 40 linear feet of railing works out to roughly $2,000 to $2,800 at those averages. Square balusters and horizontal rods, stairs, corners and gates all move the price within that range.
These are averages, so your fixed price comes after a design session. Projects of any size are welcome, with several payment options: monthly payments, or do the project now and pay later.
Horizontal rods or cable railing?
We install horizontal rod railing and square baluster railing, both in powder-coated steel. We do not install cable railing, and horizontal rods are the modern alternative.
Horizontal rods give you a clean, modern look and keep your view open, which is why lake homeowners often choose them. Square balusters are the classic look with vertical lines.
At your design session we show you both in a 3D rendering on your own deck, so you can see how each one frames the view.
How tall does deck railing need to be?
Most residential deck railing is about 36 inches tall, and some decks need 42 inches, but the exact height depends on your deck and your local code.
Rules differ by town and by how high your deck sits, so we confirm what your address requires and build to it. Stairs also need a graspable handrail, and we install one on every set of stairs.
Permits and inspections are handled for you, so you do not have to guess which rules apply.
Can new railing go on my existing deck?
Yes, if the deck is sound. We check the framing, posts and ledger first, and if they are in good shape we can replace just the railing.
Railing is only as strong as what it attaches to, so a rotted post or soft framing needs repair first. We tell you what we find and show you photos.
If the whole deck is worn out, it may make more sense to replace it, and we tell you honestly which makes sense.
Does powder-coated steel railing rust?
Powder coating protects the steel, and our RDI Railings come with a 15-year warranty against cracking, peeling, blistering, corrosion and abnormal discoloration or fading under normal atmosphere and weather conditions.
Ozarks weather is humid, wet and cold in winter, so a protective finish matters. A regular rinse keeps dirt off the finish, and chips should be touched up so the steel underneath is not left exposed.
Warranty terms apply, so we go over the details with you at your design session.
