Class 4 in plain language

The highest impact rating there is.

Class 4 comes from the UL 2218 impact test. A product earns it only if it does not crack through under a two-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet. It means the roof is built to hold up to hail. It does not mean hail-proof.

  • Class 4The top of the scale. The product does not crack through under a two-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet.
  • Class 3Passes the test at a smaller ball and a lower drop than Class 4.
  • Classes 1 and 2Lower impact ratings, with smaller steel balls and lower drops still.

What your clients receive

Documentation that travels with the home.

We send the carrier the roof's certificate. The Home Passport keeps the products installed, the registered warranties and photos of the hidden layers on record.

Impact-rated roofs may qualify for an insurance discount with some carriers. Discounts vary by carrier. We do not give insurance advice or handle claims, and we cannot promise a discount.
