Can an impact-rated roof lower my Missouri homeowners insurance?
By Tyler Arnold, Owner, Big Chief Exteriors
Impact-rated roofs may qualify for an insurance discount with some carriers. Discounts vary by carrier, so the best step is to ask yours before you choose a roof.
What may qualify
Impact-rated shingles, Class 4.
Class 4 is the highest impact rating for shingles. We install TAMKO StormFighter FLEX 4, which is Class 4 and registered under TAMKO MasterShield, and TAMKO Titan XT, which is Class 3.
A roof with an impact rating may qualify for a discount, and may not. Carriers decide.
How to ask
Questions to ask your carrier.
- Do you offer a discount for impact-rated (Class 3 or Class 4) roofing?
- What documentation do you need, and who sends it?
- Does the discount apply right away or at renewal?
- Does the roof type affect my coverage, deductible or eligibility?
- Is the discount different for shingle, metal or designer roofing?
What we do
We send the certificate.
We send your carrier the roof's certificate. We do not give insurance advice or handle claims, and we cannot promise a discount.
