The story

A chief is the one who protects the people in their care.

Long before Branson, the Ozarks were the homeland of the Osage, who call themselves the Wah-Zha-Zhi. Big Chief's name and mark are a tribute to the Ozarks' first people and to the idea of a chief as the one who leads and protects.

That is the job we take on for your home: we build to protect it, and we honor the people who knew this land first with more than a logo.

[A personal note from Tyler: why this matters to him and to the company]

Respect

A name is a responsibility.

Using a name and mark that honor a people comes with a duty to do right by them. We would rather say that plainly than pretend a logo is enough.

[How the name and mark were chosen, and who was consulted, such as the Osage Nation or Osage community members]

If you are Osage, or you have a concern about how we use our name, we want to hear from you. [Contact for feedback]
